fun fact

In the early days, we bought beets through a produce wholesaler. After fermentation, some batches had a stunning deep garnet color and delicious berry-like flavor, and others didn’t, so we did a little digging. The beets for the best batches all came from Terra Firma Farm in Winters, CA. In addition to being organic since the 1990s, the farm uses regenerative farming practices like spreading compost, cover cropping and grazing animals between crops. Flavor starts in the soil! We now buy all of our beets direct so more of every dollar spent goes to support this incredible farm.
